A 48-hour water supply disruption has been announced in several areas of Hyderabad by the officials of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Friday.
“Replacement works on the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Phase-1 project, which supplies drinking water to Hyderabad city, will disrupt water supply in several areas for 48 hours. HMWSSB has proposed the replacement of 900 mm diameter valves installed on the 3000 mm diameter MS pumping main at the Murmur, Mallaram, and Kondapaka pumping stations is scheduled from 6 am on September 9 and up to 11 am on September 10,” according to an official release issued by the HMWSSB.
As a result, water supply will be halted in the following areas within the reservoir limits during this period: S.R. Nagar, Sanathnagar, Borabanda, SPR Hills, Erragadda, Banjara Hills, Venkatrao Nagar, Yellareddyguda, Somajiguda, Fatehnagar sections, parts of Jubilee Hills, and parts of Tatikana, Lalapet and Tarnaka neighbourhoods.
Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar, Vivekanandanagar, Yellammabanda, Moosapet, Bharatnagar, Motinagar, Gayatrinagar, Babanagar, KPHB, Balajinagar, and Hashmatpet
sections.
Chintal, Suchitra, Jeedimetla, Shapur Nagar, Gajularamaram, Suraram, Adarshnagar, Bhagat Singh Nagar, Jagadgirigutta, and Ushodaya section.
Alwal, Father Balayya Nagar, Venkatapuram, Machabolaram, Defence Colony, Vajpayee Nagar, Yapral, Chanakyapuri, Gautham Nagar, Sainathpuram sections, and Moulali Reservoir.
Charlapalli, Saibaba Nagar, Radhika sections, Kailasgiri old and new reservoir areas, Housing Board section, and parts of Mallapur.
Kondapur, Doons, parts of Madhapur, parts of Gachibowli, part of Nallagandla. Hafeezpet, and Miyapur sections, and Pocharam.
Kompally, Gundlapochampally, Thumkunta, Jawaharnagar, Dammaiguda, Nagaram section, Ayyappa Colony reservoir areas.
Nizampet, Bachupally, Pragatinagar, Gandi Maisamma, Tellapur, Bollaram, Bowrampet sections. MES, Trishul Lines, Gunrock, Hakimpet Airforce, Secunderabad Cantonment, AIIMS Bibinagar. Rural Water Supply (RWS) Offtakes in Aler (Bhuvanagiri), Ghanpur (Medchal/Shamirpet) areas.
Consumers in the affected areas are advised to use water sparingly during the disruption, HMWSSB officials made a plea.
