The Cyberabad police on Monday arrested four persons including a makeup artist for cheating innocent people promising to double their cash after performing “barish pooja”.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Irfan, 44, a sofa worker and resident of Bahadurpura, Gugoloth Ravindhar, 40, a makeup artist and resident of Filmnagar, Kavira Sai Baba, 41, a courier delivery boy and resident of Suraram Colony and Thakur Manohar Singh, 30, a washerman and resident of Khairatabad.
One more person Abdul Kayyoom of Uttar Pradesh was absconding in the case. The
police recovered Rs.8.50 lakh in cash, a country-made weapon and a knife from the possession of Irfan, according to Medchal Deputy Commissioner of Police, N Koti Reddy.
The accused persons initially targeted innocent people, making them believe, if they do “barish pooja” by keeping the amount. After completion of pooja, the money will be increased multiple times.
After pooja, the accused would give sweets and badam milk mixed with intoxicant as prasadam after which those performing pooja would become unconscious. The accused then escaped with the money from them.
