Gearing up for the polling day that is scheduled on Thursday, the Hyderabad District Election Authority has sent the 9,318 balloting units (BUs), 5,132 control units, and 5,737 VVPATs to the 4,119 polling stations located in its jurisdiction.
To hold the elections in 15 Assembly segments of Hyderabad district, 34,452 polling staff and police personnel have been deployed. Among the total polling stations, 1,836 are critical polling stations. At these polling stations, Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed and a special briefing was held with the Presiding Officers (POs) of these stations.
"In addition to training, we have also been provided with a booklet. In the city, elaborate arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of elections" said an official monitoring the poll-related activity at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium in Yousufguda.
According to district electoral officer (DEO) Ronald Rose, 600 buses have been arranged to make it
convenient for around 20,000 polling staffers to reach the distribution counting and reception and counting (DRC) centres.
The election authorities have also prepared thematic polling stations. They include model polling stations, women polling stations, polling stations managed by specially-abled persons with disabilities (PWD) as well as polling stations managed by youths.
While the women polling stations will be managed only by women and police personnel deployed will also be women, the PWD stations will be managed by specially-abled and the youth polling stations will be entirely manned by the youth. At the model polling stations, the electors will be welcomed with hospitality.
" In 15 assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district, there will be 75 model polling stations, 75 women polling stations, 15 PWD polling stations, and 15 youth polling stations," said an official from Hyderabad District Election Authority.
