A 30-year-old man of Yousuf Guda in Hyderabad city became the latest victim of cyber fraud after losing Rs. 1.95 lakh to a malicious APK file disguised as an app for the ‘PM Kisan’ scheme.

This occurred in the last week of July when the complainant, a resident of Yousufguda, unknowingly downloaded the fraudulent app after receiving a WhatsApp message from an unknown number containing an APK file named ‘PM Kisan’.

Upon



clicking the link and downloading the app, his phone began to malfunction, exhibiting lot of issues like overheating and repeated shutdowns.

Shortly after, a total of Rs. 1.95 lakh was debited from his bank account. His mobile phone was also hacked by the fraudsters, who sent suspicious messages to his contacts.

Realising he had been cheated, the victim complaint the Cybercrime police, a case is booked and investigation is under way.
