The Nizamabad police booked 1,784 drunk-driving cases during vehicle checks conducted across Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor divisions over the past six weeks.
The checks were conducted from August 2 to September 12, 2026, covering all law and order and traffic police station limits in the commissionerate. The accused were produced before courts in Nizamabad, Bodhan and Armoor.
Of the 1,784 offenders, 124
were sentenced to one week in jail, while the remaining offenders were collectively imposed fines totalling Rs.1.45 crore. Police said vehicle checks were being conducted near police stations and at other key locations within their respective jurisdictions to curb drunk driving and prevent road accidents.
The police warned motorists against driving under the influence of alcohol and said checks would continue across the three divisions.
