A new journey is on cards for 168 families living for decades in a nondescript slum at Katta Maisamma Silver Compound in Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. They are all set to start a new phase of their life in a decent housing society, courtesy – Telangana government’s Double Bed Room Housing Scheme.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up the construction of 224 housing units in Katta Maisamma Silver Compound with an estimated cost of Rs 1,763 lakh. Among the total houses, 168 houses are ready to occupy. The brand new 2BHK houses are to be handed over to beneficiaries on September 23 by Municipal



Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao and Animal Husbandary Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. The function is also to be attended by Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy.

The housing society is being built on a land parcel measuring 2.15 acres with 224 houses spread across 8 blocks (G+3 pattern). With a plinth area of 560 sft, the cost of each dwelling unit worked out to Rs 7 lakh apart from Rs.0.75 lakh as cost of infrastructure for each unit. The infrastructure provided here include CC roads, 100 KL capacity sump and sewerage lines.
