13-year-old girl rescued after illegal marriage in Ranga Reddy

In a shocking incident, a minor girl aged 13 years was married to a 40-year-old man at Nandigama mandal in Ranga Reddy district.

The girl, a student of Class 8 in the local Zilla Parishad High School, was married on 5 July by her mother, Shravanthi, to one Srinivas Goud of Chevella mandal against the girl’s



wishes.

The school principal, who got wind of the incident, informed the local police and revenue authorities. The girl was rescued.

A case has been registered against Shravanthi, Srinivas Goud, the priest who performed the marriage, and a couple who helped fix the alliance. Investigation is going on.
