Twelve final-year BDS students were suspended after it was found that they had allegedly ragged first-year BDS students and physically abused an intern, causing blurred vision in one eye, at Government Dental College on June 8.
They include all men staying in the men's hostel and allegedly targeted first-year male BDS students. They were repeatedly warned many times. They had also allegedly broken CCTV cameras on December 31, 2025, and continued abusing juniors.
An
intern who had completed BDS and was pursuing internship reportedly tried to resolve the issue, but was allegedly beaten by final-year students and suffered an injury affecting vision in his left eye on June 8.
Sultan Bazar Inspector G. Naresh said a case had been registered and the twelve students allegedly involved were booked for trespass, physical assault, and criminal intimidation. “Further inquiry will include speaking with witnesses and examining CCTV footage,” he said.
