Intensifying the crackdown against sue of Chinese manja this Sankranti festive season, the Hyderabad police registered 103 cases and arrested 143 persons for selling Chinese manja. A total of 6,226 bobbins of Chinese manja worth Rs 1.24 crores were seized.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar, cautioned that the sale and use of Chinese manja was banned and attracts legal action. The
Hyderabad police for last one month are keeping a watch on those who are involved in the trade of Chinese manja.
Both the special teams and local police are conducting raids on shops and godowns in the city to seize the manja. “We are keeping close watch on e-commerce platforms and courier services. The management should be careful and any violation will attract serious consequences,” said Sajjanar.
