Retired professor sets up unique Naturopathy library in Hanamkonda Telangana:

Warangal: A retired professor of Kakatiya University is sparing no efforts to promote naturopathy, the science of healthy living and a drugless system of curing diseases.

Prof Gajjala Rameshwaram’s contribution to saving and propagating Naturopathy has been in respect of setting up and maintaining a library having thousands of books, magazines and allied literature on Naturopathy on his own. The Naturopathy Library, as he refers to it is of immense value to Naturopathy practitioners and those who would like to know about the ancient system of healthy living.

The library set up in his house in Hanamkonda has a fulltime librarian

He set up this Naturopathy Library by dedicating two rooms at his residence besides appointing a librarian by paying salary from his pocket. The library was inaugurated by Prof K Satya Lakshmi, Director of national Insititute of Naturopathy, Pune in July 2018.

“Its my dream project. I set it up out of my interest and with my money. I wish everyone uses this naturupathic science, the most cost-effetive method of treatment”, sayd Prof Rameshwaram. The library would be of use to students of Naturopathy. The library has some rare literature and people from other parts of the country and abroad too visit the librar, Prof Rameshwaram told Telangana Today. Currently, he is engrossed in getting the entire collection digitised. Nearly 60 per cent of the 6000 books and journals were digitized so far. He had to travel all over the country to collect rare books and



manuscripts on the subject. He had later compiled a bibliography of naturopathy books and journals in Telugu, Urdu, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Gujarati besides 4,000 journals and manuscripts.

He feels that the Government could at least encourage the Naturopathy college students to refer to the books in the library. The Govenrment must also declare a ‘Naturopathy Day’in Telangana too. The Ministry of AYUSH observed the first Naturopathy Day on November 18, 2018 and the theme of this year’s naturopathy day wouuld be ‘Rog Mukt Bharat’. The retired teacher says the library could be utilised by outstation doctors, researchers and scientists. “If need be they can stay in the library free of cost, but they must inform me first”, he asserts.
