Hyderabad: The seven-year-old girl Sai Pravallika, who was struggling with long time illness due to a rare neuro-degenerative disease, has passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday at Gandhi Hospital.

The girl’s health condition was further complicated on December 14 when she was administered with a ‘contaminated’ saline at Gandhi Hospital. She suffered convulsions and almost went into a comatose state before hospital doctors managed to revive her.

The father of the girl Bixapathy had spotted a ‘fungi’ like organism floating in the saline bottle, which was administered to the youngster. The relatives protested against the hospital authorities for not

checking the quality of the saline bottle.

Since then, the Sai Pravallika , who needed 24 hours bed side assistance due to her neuro-degenerative, was struggling with numerous health complications.  She was admitted to Gandhi Hospital on December 7 and since then was under treatment and care of the hospital.

The father of the girl, hailing form Jangaon, had recently tried to meet Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy seeking better medical facilities for Sai Pravallika during the minister’s visit to Gandhi Hospital for inauguration of a dialysis unit.

The family has taken the body to the native town for cremation.
