Hyderabad: Health Minister Dr. Lakshma Reddy on Monday said that there were 21 Special New Born Care Units (SNCUs) functioning in the Telangana State.

In his reply to a question raised by MLA Gongidi Sunitha during Question Hour in State Legislative Assembly, the minister said 7 more SNCUs are expected to become functional during



financial year 2017-18.

In the Programme Implementation Plan for the year 2017-18, proposals were submitted to Government of India for sanction of another 7 SNCUs in view of reorganisation of districts. If approved, each of the 31 districts in Telangana will have a SNCU to take care of Special New Born, he said.
