Patna: Ticket collector Shashi Kumar from Bihar has collected Rs 1.11 crore fine from ticketless passengers, becoming the top revenue earner in five zones of the Indian Railways. Kumar collected this fine in a year from nearly 16,000 passengers travelling without tickets at Danapur, Patna, Buxar, and Mughalsarai (now Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction ) stations.

For this, he has also received certificates from the senior officials of the East Central Railway.

Kumar, who joined railway four years ago, has received a letter of appreciation from Aadhar Raj, senior divisional commercial manager, East Central Railway. "While working as sr TE in the ticket checking squad (PNBE-4), in this current financial year (April 21 to December 21), you have added Rs 68.3 lakhs of revenue from 11267



cases in 237 working days and also used POS machines, which is quite appreciable," the letter reads.
For his record collections, he has also received a certificate of merit from the station director, Patna.

Speaking on his achievements, Kumar said he was happy that he could collect and give Rs 1.11 crore revenue through fine to the government. He said fined over 16,000 passengers travelling without tickets.
When asked how and where he collected this much fine, he said he fines passengers at Danapur, Patna, Baxar, Mughalsarai stations. "Wherever I was posted I did my job properly," he said.

According to reports, Shasi has now set a target of Rs 2 crore fine collection for next year. This year, he on an average fined over 40 passengers by checking over 30 trains daily.
