In the UEFA Champions League football, Manchester City and Real Madrid served up a breathless Champions League semi-final first leg at the Etihad where City recorded a 4-3 win over Madrid yesterday. 

Manchester City led by two goals three times during the match but Karim Benzema's double ensured the Real Madrid side remained in touching distance. The match began and ended with both sides attacking



relentlessly.

In another encounter, Liverpool defeated Villarreal to inch a step closer to their third Champions League final appearance in five seasons. Liverpool beat Villarreal 2-0 to win the first leg of their semi-final at Anfield. Two goals in two minutes undid Villarreal boss Unai Emery's defensive game plan as Pervis Estupinan deflected Jordan Henderson's cross into his own net before Sadio Mane slotted in a second.
