Tiger Shroff has revealed the unfortunate news that his football debut during the Durand Cup 2026 will not be happening, atleast for now. The Bollywood star explained the reason behind him not donning the jersey of Mumbay FC during the ongoing tournament and said he will not make the trip to Shillong, where the club is scheduled to play their next match.
There was a lot of buzz around Shroff as he was named in Mumbay FC's squad for the Durand Cup on July 28. The club's co-owner Zoheb Amrani revealed that he could atleast feature in one of their group matches that was set to be staged in Shillong.
In a video released by the club's official Instagram account, Shroff said that a
work commitment came up at the last moment, meaning that he won't be able to make it to Shillong for the match against Nongkseh SS & CC.
“Really, really unfortunate, but a work commitment has come up at the last moment, so I won’t be able to make it to Shillong for the Durand Cup,” Shroff said.
The Bollywood star said he really wanted to play for the club and will be supporting them during the match.
“I’m going to do everything in my power to support you guys to the best of my capability. There’s so much young talent, and with the right support and opportunities, I truly believe Indian football can do wonders,” said Shroff.
