Former Brazil forward Ronaldinho Gaucho said he has tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday, but added that he is doing fine and has been self-isolating.

The former Barcelona and Paris St Germain star was in Belo Horizonte in Brazil, where he played for local club Atletico Mineiro, when he got his diagnosis.

“I arrived in Belo Horizonte yesterday, I took the COVID test, I tested positive, I am good, asymptomatic so far,” the two-time FIFA World Player of the year said on Instagram on Sunday.

The former AC Milan and Flamengo player said he would remain in a hotel until his condition

improved.

Ronaldinho, who won 97 caps for Brazil between 1999 and 2013, has had a difficult year as he was jailed in Paraguay in March after entering the country with fake passports, along with his brother Roberto Assis. He spent a month in jail before getting released.

“It was a hard blow, I never imagined that I would go through such a situation," Ronaldinho said at the time.

"All my life I have sought to reach the highest professional level and bring joy to people with my football."

The Brazilian became one of the most iconic figures in football history over the course of a playing career which lasted 14 years.
