In the Indian Open Super Series Badminton Tournament, the contingent led by Olympic medallists PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal will be vying for quarter final berths today. In the Women's Singles event, 3rd seeded Sindhu will face Saena Kawakami from Japan in the pre-qurterfinals. Last evening Rio Olympic Silver medalList Sindhu recorded easy victory over compatriot Arundhati Pantawane 21-17, 21-6 in the first round. 

London Games Bronze medalist Saina Nehwal is seeded sixth and will face Thai's Pornpawee Chochuwong in her pre quarterfinals. Saina last evening defeated Chinese Taipei's Chia Hsin Lee 21-10 21-17 in a lop-sided contest in first round. If both, Sindhu and Saina register win today they will be pitted against each other in the quarterfinals. Another Indian Rituparna Das will also be



playing in the pre quarterfinals today and she will meet the top seed from Spain Carolina Marin.

In the Men's Singles event, K Srikanth is facing 3rd seeded Viktor Axelsen from Denmark in the pre quarterfinals. While, qualifier Sourabh Verma will lock horns with Angus Ng Ka Long from Hong Kong, B Sai Praneeth has drawn 7th seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei and Sameer Verma will be facing Hu Yun from Hong Kong in their pre quaretrfinal matches.

In the Women's Doubles event, pairs of Ashwini Ponaappa and N. Sikki Reddy and Shruti Mundada and Anoushka Parikh will be trying to make a place in the last-8. In the Mixed Doubles, lone Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N. Sikki Reddy will also be playing their pre quarterfinals match today.
