Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has replaced the injured Riyan Parag in the India A squad for the Sri Lanka tri-series, BCCI announced on Sunday, May 21. Ruturaj also takes over as the vice-captain of the team that will take on Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
India A will kick off their tri-series campaign on June 9, shortly after the IPL wraps up, with the tournament set to run until June 21. Parag suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 campaign for RR and ended up missing two league games. He played through the pain during the playoff matches for
Rajasthan. The Royals were eliminated in Qualifier 2 by GT.
The BCCI said that Parag will be heading into the BCCI Centre Of Excellence, where he will continue his rehabilitation for the injury.
"The Men’s Selection Committee has added Ruturaj Gaikwad to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka."
"He replaces vice-captain Riyan Parag, who has been ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury. Riyan's rehabilitation will be managed by the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE)," read the statement from BCCI.
