Rohit Sharma set to make TV debut amid retirement speculation

Former India captain Rohit Sharma is set to make his television debut with Sony Entertainment Television, with his new show coming at a time when uncertainty continues to surround his ODI future. Titled The Rohit Sharma Show, the program will also stream on Sony LIV. Sony has not yet revealed details about the format, but its preview page lists the show as a reality program.

Rohit's move to television comes after a fresh round of speculation over his international future. The 39-year-old has already retired from T20Is and Test cricket but remains available for ODIs. His future in the 50-over format came under the spotlight during India's recent ODI series against England. There was speculation that the third ODI at Lord's could be Rohit's final appearance for India after he managed only a modest contribution in the second game in Cardiff.

Rohit responded in emphatic fashion at Lord's, smashing 138 off 110 balls. India, however, fell 27 runs short while chasing 388 and lost the three-match series 2-1. The century did little to end the questions over whether Rohit will be part of India's plans



for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

While his cricketing future remains a talking point, Rohit is now set for a new challenge away from the field. Sony had first teased his television debut in May, with a promo built around his viral 'garden' dialogue. Rohit had famously shouted, "Koi bhi garden mein nahi ghumega" during a match while urging his fielders to move faster.

The teaser showed fans repeatedly asking Rohit to repeat the line, leaving the former India captain visibly frustrated before he eventually walked away.

In a new promo released on Monday and shared by Rohit on social media, he is seen preparing for his television debut. He checks the camera angles and other details before signaling that he is ready to begin.

Sony TV has described Rohit's entry into television as the "Biggest Entertainment Debut", but has kept details of the show under wraps.

The latest promo once again refers to his viral dialogue, with Rohit saying, "These two lines I uttered have become so viral, imagine what will happen when my show comes out."
