In French Open Tennis, India's Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Marius Copil advanced to the second round of men's Doubles in Paris.

In the opening round, unseeded Indian-Romanian pair knocked out sixth-seeded South African-Kiwi pair of Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus 6-3, 7-6 at Roland Garros yesterday.

Three other Indian players Leander Paes, Divij Sharan and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, with their respective partners, will play their first round matches today.

In Men's singles, former US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina reached the second round yesterday. He beat Chilean Nicolas Jarry 3-6, 6-2, 6-1,



6-4.  

Del Potro was joined in the second round by compatriot Federico Delbonis who beat Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. Others to reach the second round of Men's Singles were M. Ymer, T.Fritz, F.Fognini, Y. Nishioka and D.Lajovic.

In women's singles, world number one Naomi Osaka advanced to the second round defeating Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 0-6, 7-6, 6-1. In the second round, she will meet Victoria Azarenka who beat Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-6.

Defending champion and third seed Simona Halep also advanced to the second round after defeating Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 yesterday.
