Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem and Simona Halep have reached the Australian Open quarter-finals. Spanish top seed Rafael Nadal battled past rival Nick Kyrgios in a thrilling four-set match. Nadal will face Austrian fifth seed Dominic Thiem in the last eight.

Stan Wawrinka produced some of his best tennis to battle past fourth seed Daniil Medvedev. Wawrinka next plays either compatriot Andrey Rublev or German seventh seed Alexander Zverev.

Dominic Thiem also advanced with a clinical win over Gael Monfils.  He will now face Rafael Nadal.

Simona Halep overcame a gutsy display from Elise Mertens to secure her place in the quarter-finals. The Romanian will play Estonian Anett Kontaveit in the last eight.

Ukrainian partner Nadia Kichenok progressed to the mixed doubles quarterfinals. They defeated the team of Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares.

Leander Paes and Jelena Ostapenko reached the mixed doubles second round. Paes and Ostapenko erased a one-set deficit to edge out local wild card entrants Storm Sanders and Marc Polmans.  They will next face American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Briton Jamie Murray.
   
In Men's Singles, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic swept into the quarter-finals. Roger came from behind with victory over Marton Fucsovics. The Swiss will play American Tennys Sandgren in the last eight.

Djokovic of Serbia defeated Argentine Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and next faces Milos Raonic.
