PV Sindhu is the lone Indian singles player to be seeded at the much-anticipated World Championships, scheduled to be held from 25 to 31 August in Paris, France. Sindhu is seeded 15th out of 16 players in the women's singles bracket, which is led by defending champion An Se Young.
India had two men's singles players among the top 16 seeds at the 2023 World Championships in Copenhagen - HS Prannoy at No. 9 and Lakshya Sen at No. 11. However, there is no Indian representation among the top 16 seeds in the men's singles this year.
The seedings for the World Championships were determined based on the world rankings as of 8 August.
PV Sindhu will be aiming to rediscover her big-match temperament
after a rather erratic season so far. Having begun the year with a quarter-final run at the India Open, Sindhu has failed to progress to the last eight in any of her subsequent tournaments. The two-time Olympic medallist has an impressive record at the World Championships, with five medals to her name, including the coveted gold from the 2019 edition in Basel.
Lakshya Sen has also endured an inconsistent season in 2025. While the former World Championship bronze medallist reached the quarter-finals of the All England Open, he struggled during the Asian leg of the season. However, there was a glimmer of form at the Macau Open in July-August, where Lakshya advanced to the semi-finals before falling to lower-ranked Indonesian shuttler Alwi Farhan.
