Berlin: Top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal, and Lakshya Sen stormed into the second round of the ongoing German Open in Berlin yesterday.

In Women's singles, PV Sindhu defeated Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan in straight games, while Saina Nehwal beat Spain's Clara Azurmendi.

In men's singles, Kidambi Srikanth defeated France's Brice Leverdez, while Lakshya Sen beat Thailand's Kantaphon Wangcharoen in straight games.

Former top 10 player H S Prannoy also made a winning start, beating Ng Ka Long Angus. He will face either Indonesia's Shesar Hiren Rhustavito or Malaysia's Lee Cheuk Yiu.

Seventh seed Sindhu will meet China's Zhang Yi Man next, while world number 11



Srikanth will take on China's Lu Guang Zu.

Sen will now square off against fourth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia, while Saina is likely to take on eighth seed Ratchanok Intanon.

However, Indonesian pair Adnan Maulana and Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso ended the campaign of India's Dhruv Kapila and Gayatri Gopichand. Haritha Manazhiyil Harinarayanan and Ashna Roy were no match for Italian combination of Martina Corsini and Judith Mair, losing 9-21 10-21.

The mixed doubles pair of Sai Pratheek K and N Sikki Reddy endured a difficult time against top seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand, going down in their opening match.
