In Asia Badminton Championships in Manila, India's two-time Olympic medallist and former world champion P.V. Sindhu has cruised into the semi-final round of women's singles. She defeated fifth-seeded He Big Jiao of China in a one-hour 16 minutes thriller quarter-final 21-9, 13-21 and 21-19. With this win, Sindhu has assured



herself of a medal in the continental individual championships.

Sindhu will face top-seeded Japanese Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinals today. Top-seeded Yamaguchi has reached the semi-finals following a close encounter against sixth-seeded Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand.
