Bangkok: In Badminton, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu advanced to the women's singles quarter-finals of the Thailand Open 2022 in Bangkok yesterday. The world No. seven Sindhu beat Sim Yu Jin of South Korea in straight games 21-16, 21-13 in the second-round match that lasted for 37 minutes. She now sets up a quarterfinal clash with second-seeded Japanese shuttler Akane Yamaguchi today.

However, world No. 11 Kidambi Srikanth exited from the Thailand Open after handing a walk over to his opponent in the men’s singles second round. Srikanth, seeded eighth, gave a walkover to his Irish rival Nhat



Nguyen.

Earlier in the day, Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod crashed out losing to Denmark's Line Christophersen 21-16, 14-21, 14-21 in the second round of the women's singles.

The Indian mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto also bowed out of the second round, losing 19-21, 20-22 against sixth-seeded Malaysia combination of Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie.

Later, Ashwini Bhat K and Shikha Gautam too crashed out in the women’s doubles second round, losing 19-21,6-21 against fifth seeds Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara.
