Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a congratulatory call to Paralympics 2024 medal winners Harvinder Singh, and Dharambir among others. Modi dialled the champion athletes and congratulated them for their achievements at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
The Prime Minister called Harvinder, Dharambir, Kapil Parmar, Pranav Soorma, and Sachin Sarjerao Khilari after India's historic performance at the Summer Games. Modi highlighted that bringing medals is the biggest gift for the country. He also appreciated the efforts of the coaches, who work day and night to train these athletes and help them bring glory to the country.

Praveen Kumar on Friday, September 6. Praveen clinched a gold in the high jump T64 category, giving India an unprecedented sixth gold in a single Edition of the Games.
Modi had also shared a post on social media platform X to congratulate Praveen for his historic performance. "Congratulations to Praveen Kumar for scaling new heights and winning a Gold in the Men's High Jump T64 at the Paralympics2024! His determination and tenacity have brought glory to our nation. India is proud of him!" Modi wrote in a post on X.
India's best-ever medal haul came in the Tokyo Games in 2021 when a 54-member contingent brought home a record 19 medals. Five of them were gold medals. This time around, the 84-member contingent has already given 26 medals till Praveen's victory with several more medals in the pipeline.
