India's javelin star Neeraj Chopra has been ruled out of the upcoming Asian Games and the remainder of the season after sustaining an ankle ligament tear during training in Switzerland. Confirming the injury, Chopra stated that he sustained the ligament tear shortly after achieving his season-best throw in
Lausanne.
Following medical advice, he decided to sit out the rest of the season to focus on recovery. The injury serves as a major setback for India's medal prospects at the Asian Games, where Chopra was a strong contender. He will also miss the Diamond League for which he had qualified.
