Maharashtra’s athletes continue their winning streak at the Khelo India Youth Games. On the eighth day of the games, Maharashtra won another gold medal, increasing their total medal count to 75, including 28 gold medals.
Maharashtra has maintained the top position from the beginning. Maharashtra’s players have also won 22 silver and 25 bronze medals.
Karnataka is in second place with 39 medals, including 14 gold, while Rajasthan is in third place with a total of 23 medals.
As the Khelo India Youth Games caravan progresses, promising talents for international games are also emerging in various sports. In swimming, Aditi Ashok Hegde; in weightlifting, Harsh Vardhan Sahu; and in archery, Tejal Salve and numerous other talented players have displayed outstanding performances this time.
In the initial games of fencing in the sabre category that started at Rajgir, Prakriti Sharma of Rajasthan and Sachin from Haryana clinched their gold medals.
Maharashtra’s Asmita Dhone set a new Khelo India Youth Games record today in the girls’ 49 kg weight category. She created new
records in clean and jerk and overall, winning the gold medal. She lifted 95 kg in clean and jerk and 170 kg overall, establishing new milestones.
In the football semi-final match played at the Yamuna Bhagat Stadium in Begusarai, Tamil Nadu’s girls defeated Haryana to secure a place in the final.
Exciting matches in table tennis, weightlifting, football, and kabaddi were witnessed today.
Haryana’s team demonstrated their strength in Kabaddi, showing their agility and skills, winning the gold medal in the boys’ category. Led by Captain Jaihind Lather, the Haryana team not only defended their Khelo India Kabaddi title but also defeated Maharashtra by a margin of 39-28.
In Yogasana, the duo of Sushant Kumar and Abhishek Kumar, playing their first Khelo India games, won the bronze medal for Bihar.
In the Sepak Takraw regular doubles competition in the girls’ category, Nagaland defeated Bihar to win the gold medal. In the boys’ category, Assam defeated Bihar in the regular doubles to clinch the gold medal.
