India’s medal tally at the Asian Games 2026 continues to rise as star boxer Lovlina Borgohain put on a brilliant show to bring home the country’s 12th gold medal at the event. In the women’s 75 kg boxing final, Lovlina Borgohain faced China’s Bao Ziyi.
It is worth noting that Bao kicked off the game with a flurry of punches, but Lovlina replied with consistent counters. The countering against the Chinese saw Lovlina take the first round with a score of 3-2, despite Bao Ziyi looking more aggressive in the opening round.
Furthermore, Bao continued her aggressive
tactics in the second round as well. However, high on confidence after her first-round victory, Lovlina Borgohain maintained her composure and resorted to countering the Chinese’s attacks in the second round as well, taking the round with a score of 4-1.
Notably, the same carried over into the third round as well. Holding a 2-0 advantage over the Chinese, Lovlina avoided any heavy damage in the third round, making Bao come at her and countering on time to take away the third round as well, winning the bout by a unanimous 5-0 victory and clinching India’s 12th gold medal at the Asian Games 2026.
