Jharkhand defeated
Haryana by 5 wickets at Vadodara last evening to enter the Ranji Trophy
semi-finals for the first time. Resuming their second innings at the overnight
score of 146 for 2, Haryana were yesterday bundled out for 262 which gave
Jharkhand a target of 176 runs. Jharkhand knocked off the runs in only 30.2
overs, with former India Under-19 captain Ishan Kishan scoring a brilliant
61-ball 86.
Earlier in the first
innings, Haryana had made 258 after opting to bat, replying to which Jharkhand
posted 345. Jharkhand's Shahbaz Nadeem, who
bagged 7 wickets in the first
innings and 4 in the second, was adjudged man of the match.
With the win, Jharkhand has joined Tamil Nadu in the semi-final stage. Tamil Nadu had defeated Karnataka by 7 wickets in the other last-8 match.
The remaining two
quarter-finals are still being played. Mumbai is taking on Hyderabad, while
Gujarat is playing Odisha.
