Bangkok: Indian Men and Women's teams lost their matches on final day of their group stage encounters of the Thomas and Uber Cup at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.

In Thomas Cup, India lost their third group match against Chinese Taipei 2-3 yesterday while in Uber Cup Korea blanked India 5-0. Apart from Kidambi Srikanth and H. S. Prannoy, who clinched victories against Chinese Taipei’s Wang Tzu Wei and Lu Chia Hung, none of the other Indians managed to win their matches. Kidambi defeated Wei in straight games 21-19, 21-16 while Prannoy defeated Hung in a thrilling three-game tie 21-18,17-21 and 21-18.

Lakshya Sen lost to Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in tough three-game match.



Earlier in the day, India lost to South Korea in the last Group tie of Uber Cup by 5-0. India's ace shuttler P.V. Sindhu again lost to her nemesis An Se Young 21-15, 21-14.

Sindhu’s defeat was followed by defeat for Indian Doubles pair as well as Aakarshi Kashyap in the Women Singles. Meanwhile, after Lakshya Sen’s defeat, India’s men’s doubles pair of Chirah Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy too faced straight-set defeat against Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin.

Both the Indian men's and women's badminton teams have already secured their places in the quarter-finals after notching some fantastic tie wins in their group stage matches.
