India women hockey team loses 2nd match against Germany in Tokyo Olympics

Tokyo: In Tokyo Olympics, India women lost their second consecutive group match, going down 0-2 against Germans this evening.

 

India had the opportunities, but they could not convert them into goals.

 

Earlier on Saturday, India had lost to Netherlands 1-5.

 

The Indian Men's Hockey Team will take on Spain in a Pool 'A' Match at 6.30 A.M. today.

 

Indian Paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal progressed to the Round-3 of the Men's Singles Table Tennis after defeating Portugal's Tiago Apolonia 2-0. Kamal will face defending champion Ma Long of China in Round-3 in Men's Singles today.

 

In Women's Single's category, Manika Batra lost to Austria’s Sofia Polcanova 4-0 in a Round-3 encounter yesterday.

 

In Badminton Men's Doubles, India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost to World No. 1, Indonesian pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 21-13, 21-12 in Men’s doubles yesterday morning.

 

The Indian pair will next take on Great Britain's pair Ben Lane and Sean Vendy today morning in a  Group 'A'

In Archery, Indian Men's Team comprising Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai lost to South Korea's  Kim Je Deok, Kim Woojin and O.H. Jinhyek 6-0 in Quarter Finals.

 

In Tennis Men's Singles second round encounter, Sumit  Nagal lost to Daniil Medvedev of Russia 6-2, 6-1.

 

In Boxing, India's Ashish Kumar Chaudhary was knocked out in the Round of 32, when he lost his bout against Erbieke Tuoheta of People's Republic of China in the men's middle weight category.

 

In Women's (64-69) kilogram category, India's Lovlina Borogohain will contest with Nadine Apetz of Germany today.

 

India’s lone fencer C.A. Bhavani Devi lost to Manon Brunet of France 15-7 in Women's individual Sabre in the Round of 32 yesterday. 

 

Bhavani Devi had entered the Round of 32 following her victory in the Round of 64 defeating Tunisia’s Nadia Ben Azizi 15-3.  

 

In Swimming, India’s Sajan Prakash could not qualify in the men’s 200m butterfly event.
