In Hockey, defending champions India will take on reigning Asian Games gold-medalists Japan today in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy tournament in Muscat. The match will begin at 10.40 p.m. Indian time. Having spanked Japan 9-0 in the round-robin stage, India will start as overwhelming favourite.

India are the only side in the tournament that remained unbeaten in the



round-robin stage, except for a close goal-less draw against old nemesis Malaysia. Pakistan will lock horns with Malaysia in the other semi-finals of the day.

India tops the table with 13 points from five games followed by arch-rivals Pakistan with 10 points. Malaysia is third while Japan are fourth with seven points. The final will be played on tomorrow.
