In Women's Hockey World Cup, India played out a 1-1 draw against England in their opening Pool B fixture of the tournament at Wagener Hockey Stadium, Amstelveen in the Netherlands last night. Petter Isabelle gave England the lead via a field goal in the 8th minute. 

India missed a host of chances before Vandana Katariya found the equalizer in Quarter 2 after converting a rebound via a penalty corner. Earlier in the day, China drew 2-2 against New Zealand in the Pool B match,



keeping the pool open. India will take on China in their second pool B match at 8 pm IST on Tuesday.

India are without regular captain Rani Rampal, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Led by goalkeeper Savita Punia in the absence of Rani Rampal, the Indian team will aim to improve on their fourth-placed finish during the Tokyo Olympics last year, where they lost to Great Britain in the bronze medal encounter.
