India lead New Zealand 2-0 in Davis Cup

India has taken a 2-0 lead against New Zealand in the Asia /Oceania Group-I Davis Cup tie at Pune. Yuki Bhambri and Ramkumar Ramanathan eked out superb victories in the Singles matches on the opening day yesterday, to hand India a commanding lead in the 5-match tie. While Bhambri defeated Finn Tearney, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3,



Ramanathan beat Jose Statham, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
Leander Paes, eying a world record 43 doubles wins in the Davis Cup history, will play along side Vishnu Vardhan today to seal the tie for the hosts. They will take on the pair of Michael Venus and Artem Sitak. The Reverse Singles matches will be played tomorrow.
