Bhubaneshwar: India has got its first win in the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2021 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar yesterday evening.

The Indian junior team registered a tremendous victory in their second Pool-B match of the World Cup by defeating Canada 13-1 in a one-sided fashion. India had to face 4-5 defeat against France in their first match. Drag-flicker Sanjay scored a hat-trick for India in the second consecutive match. Apart from him, Arijit Hundal also scored a hat-trick. The Indian team had scored only 4 goals in the first half, while in the second half they scored 9



goals. 

Uttam Singh and Sharda Nand Tiwary scored 2-2 for India, while captain Vivek Sagar Prasad, Maninder Singh, and Abhishek Lakra scored a goal each. Christopher Tardiff scored the only goal for Canada. With that treble, hosts rounded up a memorable night in Odisha.

France is leading Pool B with two wins from as many games, after beating Poland 7-1 yesterday, while India is placed second. India will meet Poland in their last pool fixture tomorrow. Earlier, in the day, Argentina beat Egypt 15-0, Netherlands beat Korea 12-5 and Spain thrashed USA 17-0.
