New York: In Tennis, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, the US Open began in New York last night. Star US player Coco Gauff reached the second round of women's singles today after defeating Germany's Laura Siegemund 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. 

Earlier, Defending champion Iga Swiatek of Poland, Karolína Muchová of Czech Republic, Swiss player Belinda Bencic, Belarusian player Victoria Azarenka and Daria Saville of Australia also advanced to the second round of Women's Singles. However,

Maria Sakkari of Greece made the first round exit after losing to Rebeka Masarova of Spain.

In Men's Singles, Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the next round after defeating Canada's Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. fourth seed Danish player Holger Rune crashed out of the US Open losing in four sets to Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6. Fifth seed Casper Ruud of Norway has progressed to the second round.
