ICC fined India pacer Kranti Gaud for breaching the Code of Conduct

India pacer Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee and handed one demerit point by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the Code of Conduct during the Women's Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday.

Gaud accepted the sanction, which was imposed after she was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The article relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an



International Match.”

The incident took place during Sri Lanka's chase when Gaud dismissed opener Imesha Dulani. The Indian pacer pointed towards the pavilion during her celebration, a gesture that was deemed by the match officials to have breached the Code of Conduct.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and can result in a fine of up to 50 per cent of a player's match fee, along with one or two demerit points. The demerit point is Gaud's first in a 24-month period.
