In a major development, the ICC (International Cricket Council) has come forward and announced sanctions for India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando after the duo were involved in an altercation with each other on day 1 of the ongoing second Test.

It is worth noting that Jaiswal was dismissed for 45 runs in the first innings, and as he was walking back to the pavilion, he exchanged some words with Fernando, which got the experts and the fans talking about the moment.

On the second

day of the Test, the ICC has come forward and revealed that both Jaiswal and Fernando have been found in breach of Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It is worth noting that the article relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).”

Both Jaiswal and Fernando have been fined 25 per cent of their match fees and have been handed one demerit point each as well.
