The Paragliding World Cup will begin today at Bir Billing near Baijnath town in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. State Urban Development Minister and President Billing Paragliding Association Sudhir Sharma said, this is for the first time that this event is being organised in a South Asian country. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will flag off the event. 

Kangra District Administration and the state government have made elaborate arrangements for the purpose. Snow leopard will be the



mascot of this World Cup. More than 130 registered pilots including 14 women pilots from thirty five countries would take part in this one week competition. The different categories of this competition are Paragliding, Hand gliding, Hot air ballooning, and Acrobatic shows. Among the eight Indian flyers six are from the Himachal Pradesh only. To meet any emergent situation forty rescue teams equipped with latest equipment would be deployed at various strategic locations besides helicopters and Air ambulance.
