In Badminton, H S Prannoy stormed into the second round of men's singles of Japan Open beating compatriot Kidambi Srikanth. Prannoy defeated Srikanth 13-21, 21-11, 22-20.  
 
Top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma will begin their singles campaign today. Sindhu, seeded fifth, will face China's Yue Han, while Sameer Verma will take on Anders Antonsen of Denmark. 
 
Sai Praneeth has alreday stormed into



the second round of men's singles. He next faces Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan. 

In the mixed doubles event, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also advanced to the next round.

However, in men's doubles, Manu Attri and Sumeeth B Reddy, crashed out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal has pulled out of the tournament due to injuries.
