Girl From Mysuru Tops AITA And ATF Ranking

Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Mysuru city, stands first in All India Tennis Association (AITA) ranking and second in Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) ranking in under 14 category. 

She ascended to the top ranking after her win over Niesha Enja of Telangana at the ATF Under 16 Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament on Friday at Agartala, Tripura. In the final, Padmapriya defeated number 1 seeded player Niesha Enja in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4.

seeded player Japji Jaur Badohal of Punjab comfortably in two sets scoring 6-2 and 6-1. Padmapriya faced Prisha Nitin Patil from Maharashtra in the quarterfinals. Padmapriya defeated number 6 seeded player Prishna Nitin Patil by 6-2 and 6-0. 

Padmapriya is a student of Excel Public School in Mysuru and coached by Raghuveer Ponnuswamy. Her father Dr Ramesh Kumar is Chief Conservator of Forests, Project Tiger Mysuru and her mother Dr Malathi Priya, Chief Conservator of Forests, Chamarajnagar (Territorial) Circle.
