It was not the final that the fans of the sport would have expected, but to see Rafael Nadal in the form that he was on the red dirt is certainly one of the most exhilarating sporting moments in this pandemic-hit year. The World No. 2 won his 13th French Open title to equal Roger Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slam titles on Sunday at the Phillipe Chattrier.

One of the toughest players on the circuit, Novak Djokovic, was looking clueless as Rafael Nadal put on a masterclass of tennis on clay-court. It was also his 100th win at Roland Garros as the 34-year-old looked nearly unbeatable out on the court.

Nadal vs Djokovic, French Open 2020: Highlights

With the win, Nadal became only the 4th singles tennis player to enter the 20-major club. Margaret Court (24), Serena Williams (23), and Steffi Graf (22) are ahead of the two legends of men's tennis.

Nadal needed just 2 hours and 43 minutes to inflict one of the most severe defeats on Djokovic with a 6-0, 6-2, 7-5

scoreline.

13 finals and as many wins. The King of Clay has lost only 2 matches and the man who beat him in 2016 had no chance on Sunday. Nadal bageled Djokovic in the opening set that lasted only 45 minutes. Only 2 unforced errors as Nadal hit 10 winners. Yes, you read that right.

Nadal was absolutely crashing his double backhand winners and those forehand booms as Djokovic was able to find no answers to the challenges thrown at him. The second set was over in a flash as well as Djokovic managed to hold his serve for the first time in the match after nearly an hour.

Nadal took it 6-2 and it looked like the Spaniard clinched his most dominant win at Roland Garros. However, there was some fight left in the tank of Novak Djokovic who came up with a valiant fightback. He made it 5-4 in the 2nd set but Nadal won the next 3 games to complete what was a remarkable day for him at the office. If you remember right, 12 years ago, Nadal had inflicted similar damage to his arch-rival Roger Federer as he won the Roland Garros final 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.
