Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have parted ways with long-serving batting coach Michael Hussey as the five-time champions continue a major overhaul of their backroom staff ahead of IPL 2027. The Australian's departure marks the end of an eight-year stint in the coaching role, bringing an end to a significant chapter in his association with the franchise.

Hussey first joined CSK as a player in 2008 and represented the franchise across six seasons. After retiring from international cricket, he returned to the team as batting coach in 2018, working alongside head coach Stephen Fleming. Fondly known as 'Mr Cricket', Hussey played a key role in CSK's success, with the franchise winning IPL titles in 2018, 2021 and

2023 during his coaching stint.

CSK paid an emotional tribute to Hussey while announcing their decision to move on.

"From the very first season in 2008, you have been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings family," the franchise said in a statement on social media.

"Your journey in Yellow has been defined not just by the runs you scored and the players you mentored, but by the dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment you brought to this franchise over the years."

CSK concluded the message by saying, "Your place in our history will forever remain special, Hussmeister. Once a Super King, always a Super King."
