Jemimah Rodrigues said that Delhi Capitals (DC) would look to put their disastrous performance against Mumbai Indians (MI) behind them as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 progresses.
DC endured a nightmare start to their campaign on Saturday, slumping to a heavy 50-run defeat against the two-time champions at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Asked to chase a daunting target of 196, DC were bowled out for 145 in 19 overs. Apart from Chinelle Henry’s fighting 56, none of the Capitals’ batters were able to
build meaningful contributions.
Jemimah felt the team bowled reasonably well but admitted that the lack of partnerships with the bat proved costly. Despite the setback, she remained optimistic and vowed that DC would regroup and mount a strong comeback in the tournament.
“We bowled well, but we couldn’t build partnerships with the bat. We’ll work on that. It’s a different team, so we can’t be too harsh on ourselves. I’m confident we will bounce back,” Jemimah said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
