Harmanpreet Kaur, on February 20, became the third Indian batter to score 3000 runs in T20Is. She accomplished the feat in India’s Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Group B match against Laura Delany’s Ireland at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

Kaur was seven runs short of the milestone before the match against Ireland and she got there without much fuss. She hit Orla Prendergast on to the leg side for a single to get to the milestone. The veteran became the first Indian woman to achieve the milestone in T20Is.

After reaching the 3000-run mark, Harmanpreet joined Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma among Indians with as many runs in the shortest format of the game. Moreover, she became the third batter after New Zealand’s Suzie Bates, Australia’s Meg

Lanning and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor to score over 3000 runs in Women’s T20Is.

Earlier, Harmanpreet became the first cricketer (male or female) to play T20Is. In the match against England that India lost by 11 runs a couple of days ago, Kaur went past Rohit to become the most-capped player in the purest format of the game.

She scored 13 runs off 20 balls before Ireland skipper Laura Delany accounted for her wicket. Harmanpreet tried to go aerial on the on-side, but holed out to Prendergast, who took a brilliant catch in the deep.

Smriti Mandhana was the star of the show against Ireland after she scored 87 runs before getting out to Orla Prendergast, who has arguably been the standout player for Ireland in the tournament.
