Bristol: In Women’s Cricket Test at Bristol, India’s 17-year-old Shafali Verma became the youngest woman and the fourth overall, to score twin half-centuries in her debut Test. After scoring 96 in the first knock, Shafali was unbeaten on 55 in the second essay when play was halted due to rain.

The record was previously held by Australia’s Jessica Louise Jonassen, who was 22,



when she scored fifties in both innings of her debut Test against England.

Earlier in the day, Indian women resumed at 187 for the loss of five wickets but were bowled out for 231, giving the hosts a healthy lead of 165 runs.

Having been forced to follow on, India are still trailing by 82 runs.
