Legendary India cricketer Saurav Ganguly has revealed that he’s in constant talks with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to keep the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The BCCI is yet to confirm the venues for the playoffs of the tournament after the new schedule for the last leg of the event was announced.
Earlier, Kolkata was granted the final and Qualifier 2 of the tournament. However, after the tournament was suspended midway amid rising border tensions between India and Pakistan, the BCCI is yet to announce the new venues for the playoffs. Recently, Ganguly shared his views on the matter and said that he’s in regular talks with the authorities and
everything will be sorted soon.
"No, no, we're trying -- talking to the BCCI. Is it that easy to shift the final? It's Eden's playoffs, and I'm sure everything will be sorted. I'm very hopeful. Protest doesn't help much. BCCI has a very good relationship with the Cricket Association of Bengal,” Ganguly told PTI.
The BCCI planned to shift the venue of the playoffs due to potential logistical issues and weather disruptions, as Kolkata experiences heavy rainfall at this time of the year.
Furthermore, Ganguly also commented on the retirements of Indian batting stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, saying that the latter’s retirement left him shocked.
