Pakistan have strengthened their batting department for the 2022 T20 World Cup, adding Fakhar Zaman to their 15-member squad.

Fakhar Zaman, who was originally named in standby players list, replaced leg-spinner Usman Qadir in the squad.

The left-hander Fakhar injured his knee while fielding against Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup, leading to him being named in the travelling reserves for the ICC tournament in Australia. Fakhar is now all set to play in Pakistan's opening match against India on October 23.

Fakhar scored only 96 runs in his six

outings during the recent Asia Cup, including a half-century against Hong Kong in a group match. Meanwhile, Usman Qadir had not played an international match since hurting his thumb while fielding during the fourth T20I against England in September.

Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad:

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood.

Standby Players: Usman Qadir, Mohammad Haris, Shahnawaz Dahani.
