Hampshire and Sussex drew swords against each other in the South Group match of the T20 Blast 2021 at Rose Bowl, Southampton. Sussex has been on a roll in the season so far and with Rashid Khan playing this encounter they were expected to have a great outing. However, the game quite didn’t go well for the spinner with the ball, but he still didn’t fail to intrigue everybody with his batting cameo.

The first appearance of Rashid Khan for Sussex was something he wouldn’t want to remember. He proved expensive with the ball in the match and wasn’t able to scalp any wickets. In the first innings, however, he made sure he does the contribution to the team with the bat. Rashid played a quickfire knock of 26 runs off 13 balls and assisted the team to put a competitive total on the board.

Whilst his frenetic innings, he hit some belligerent shots to clear the boundaries. But one shot particularly stood out among the others which made everybody take notice of it. Rashid himself seemed to have found this shot impressive as he shared it as a story on his Instagram handle. He captioned it as: “Now we need a name for this shot!! Though his cameo helped the team to put a good score on the board, they weren’t able to defend it. Rashid Khan conceded 45 runs but wasn’t able to pick a wicket in the game and that probably left the team to struggle.

Rashid wasn’t able to pull things with the ball around in this contest, but it is a known fact that he has been instrumental for every team that he has played for. He stands as the important cog in the wheel of the Afghanistan side with his extraordinary abilities.

Not only with the bat, one has seen him do wonders with the bat too. He has often said on record that he enjoys batting as well. Recently on the Curtly & Karishma Show, he had asserted that he always wanted to be the best at his craft.

“I don’t know if I am the best or not. Since childhood, while playing with brothers at home, I had that kind of mentality in my mind that I have to be the best. That is just how I grew up.”
